Out Campaigning in Bennelong

Thoughts on Freedom

Supporting the principles of the Australian Libertarian Society, which include free-markets, individual liberty and decreasing the role of government. http://alsblog.wordpress.com/

I’m the Liberal Democrat (LDP) candidate for the federal seat of Bennelong in this 2010 election. This is made somewhat easier by the fact that I actually live in Bennelong. Today I figured I’d stroll down to the shops and see if anybody recognised me. Alas nobody came up to me to congratulate me on my pre-selection or to ask my views on immigration policy or tax rates. Me and the kids (my two eldest) soon gave up on the project and thought we would go and get some lunch and milkshakes.

Along the way we spotted a famous Australian tennis player. This guy was willing to be friendly and went to some effort to make me feel important. We had a bit of a chat about tennis. I asked him if he still plays tennis and I can confirm he does. He seems like a nice bloke so I didn’t bother him with my political aspirations. I wished him well and we went and had our milkshakes. I’m sure that once he figures out who I am he will surely vote for me.

Thanks to the nice lady wearing the Liberal Party shirt who took the picture for us. Stay tuned for further installments from Bennelong. I’ll see if I can get a picture with a famous ABC journalist or some such thing.
