Walkerville, Ontario wasnt actually considered a real town until 1890 when it was incorporated, and then became part of windsor in 1935.
Hiram Walker basically founded the town when he built his distillery there, and the town grew up around the distillery. The whiskey was originally just known as "Club Whisky" and when it became highly popular in america, the distillers there petitioned for a law that made them have to have the word "Canada" on the label to try and put people off, but it just made it more popular and eventually was changed to "Canadian Club"
