These are 7 health super foods for men. Regularly eating them will make sure you're on your way to a longer lasting, healthier life.
1 - Brazil Nuts. Nuts in general are a great nutrient snack full of fibre, healthy fats and protein. Brazil nuts in particular are recommended though because they are packed with selenium, which is a mineral that is vital in producing antioxidants to fend off disease. In fact, just one will give you your RDA of it.
2 - Broccoli. There is substantial evidence pointing towards the anti-cancer benefits of this super food. It's full of minerals and antioxidants that clean your arteries and keep cells strong and healthy throughout your body.
3 - Flaxseed. Flaxseeds are an ideal source of nutrients, healthy fats and fibre and they help you get rid of toxic compounds. For your body to absorb the full health benefits from them they must be ground prior to consumption. Once ground you can add them to cereal, oatmeal, meatballs and shakes.
4 - Tomatoes. This fruit contains a powerful nutrient called lycopene, which has been shown to be beneficial in preventing prostate cancer in men. To get the complete health benefits of this healthy nutrient the tomatoes need to be condensed, so opt for tomato sauce and tomato juice (without additives or sugar) rather than whole tomatoes.
5 - Oysters. This super food is a superior protein source and is perfect for building lean muscle. Additionally, they supply omega 3's and zinc (which many men are known to be deficient of), and assist in the production of testosterone.
6 - Kidney Beans. These are a great source of cholesterol-lowering fibre. In addition to lowering cholesterol, kidney beans' high fibre content stops blood sugar levels from rising too quickly after a meal, making them a particularly good choice for men with diabetes.
7 - Spinach. It is common knowledge that Popeye made himself stronger by eating spinach. However, you might be surprised to find out that he may also have been protecting himself against heart disease, colon cancer and arthritis too.
You have no reason not to include these foods within your diet. None of them are overly expensive and they are all easy to find in your local supermarket or health store.
Saying that the tastes don't appeal to you is no excuse either. None of them, except maybe oysters, have a strong taste and, if you really don't like the taste of some of them, then you can mix them together with other healthy foods that you do like in the form of a milkshake or a stew.
There are of course other healthy foods to choose from but the ones listed here are a good start. Begin by increasing your consumption of these, and then add additional healthy foods to your regular diet month by month.
Also, remember that these 5 foods alone, even though they are classed as health super foods, won't make you healthy outright. They need to be part of a fuller healthy diet and, ideally, a general healthy regime that also includes regular exercise.
