For many, exercise is something that they get tired from just watching someone else do and something that they just don't bother doing themselves. This is one of the worst things people can do, because it is important that everyone get a certain amount of exercise every day. Without enough exercise, there are so many different health problems that can develop, and it doesn't take much to get out there and get the exercise you need in order to be healthy and happy. If you are overweight, getting enough exercise can also help you to shed those unwanted pounds and start looking great. It's just a matter of getting out there and doing it, and instead of being mind over matter, it is going to be mind over exercise.
Why are we saying "mind over exercise?" Because it is often our minds that we have to overcome before we can get down to actually working on getting into better shape and losing weight. How many times have you said "I'll start my diet tomorrow" or "I'll start exercising next week?" Then, when tomorrow or next week comes, you have some sort of excuse not to start doing what you need to do to be healthy. We always have excuses when it comes to getting in shape, so mind over exercise is a great way to think. Start forcing yourself to stop using excuses to get out there and exercise, and start getting the exercise you need.
Making Exercise More Fun Can Help
You don't have to do boring exercises at a gym in order to get plenty of exercise. There are all kinds of fun things that you can do to get into shape that don't even seem like exercise because you are having so much fun doing them. Take sports for example. Even if you are not very coordinated, you can still play sports for fun with your family and friends. Set up friendly games in the back yard or at a local park. In fact, you can make a fun day of it every week and schedule all kinds of fun games and activities for your whole family, followed by a picnic loaded with healthy, delicious foods.
No one likes to do house work, but, it is a great way to get exercise, and you can make it fun. If you are alone, try cranking up your stereo and dancing while you do your chores. It is loads of fun, and you will find that it seems to take a lot less time to do your housework because you are having a good time. And you will also be working up a sweat and burning calories. An hour of housework each day can turn into an hour of exercise if you do it right, and it will make you almost like doing housework.
Playing with your kids or pets is a great way to get exercise. We all know the benefits of walking, and if you have a dog, you have a great excuse to get exercise every day. Your dog will love going for regular walks, and you will both benefit from them physically. This is just another form of mind over exercise. Playing with your kids is another, especially younger ones. Your little ones are very active, and you can help them to burn their excess energy by playing games that are fun and loaded with physical activity, and if you play with them, you will be getting exercise too. Again, its mind over exercise, and when you are having fun, you won't be thinking about exercise, but you will be getting it.
Remember Not To Over Exercise
Even though it is important that we get plenty of exercise, it is also just as important to make sure that we do not over exercise. This can lead to injuries, and at the very least, incredibly stiff muscles. If you are not used to getting much exercise, you should start out slowly at first, just doing exercises for a few minutes a day, and only exercises that you are physically capable of doing. Then, as your body gets used to the new things you are doing, you can start increasing the intensity and amount of time you are exercising, until you are up to a half an hour or an hour a day. This way, there is no way that you are going to over exercise and hurt yourself, and you will not be so apt to stop exercising because it hurts.
Don't Forget To Get Enough Protein
When you are trying to get into better shape, you will need to get plenty of exercise, and you need to start eating right. Not having a healthy diet will make it so that the exercising you do is almost useless. Sure, it is going to help a bit, but if you are not eating right, you are not getting the nutrition you need to ensure that you have healthy muscles and bones. It is important that you make sure you are getting enough protein in your diet, and the more exercise you do, the more protein you may need.
Protein provides energy to the body and helps the muscles to recover following workouts. This is why you see so many people using protein supplements when they are at the gym or health club. Protein supplements are not just for body builders any more.
