Blue jeans are not my lovers...
Have you ever wondered why it is so hard to find the perfect jeans? With so many parts to the design that are required to fit (length, waist, inseam, thigh and backside), no wonder you can be left clueless. If you are gay or a girl you will appreciate the complexity to this art, and for the rest of us, how easy it becomes when you learn the basic principles.

Having the perfect pair of jeans which highlights your best features and does miracles to disguise those less flattering areas (which we all have) is paramount to a workable wardrobe. This elementary item will open up your wardrobe to myriad combinations.
Jeans have become the staple item of everyone's wardrobe. Jeans are probably the most robust and accepted item of clothing ever; it will be safe to say that almost everybody has a pair. So, you would think that, being the foundation to everyone's wardrobe, it would be easy to just walk into any store and pick up this ‘staple item'. Unfortunately, this is very far from the truth.
How many items of jeans have you purchased in the past that aren't just the right fit? Have you learned to settle for less than a perfect fit?
For a slimmer longer look:
Cut:
The staple cut to most designer jeans, the boot-cut, and jeans with a bit of flare give a long and lean look which is most flattering to most men & women.
Material:
A bit stretchy for better comfort and fit. Avoid jeans with faded washed areas around the areas you wish to disguise.
Colour:
Buy dark colours and pair them with dark shoes to create a leaner look.
Fit:
Relaxed fit, but not too baggy or saggy, which in retrospect accentuates those problem areas.
Front pockets:
Never underestimate the old faithful ‘5 pocket classic'; it creates a slimming effect.
Back pockets: VERY IMPORTANT. Take into account both where they are placed and the size of them.
Avoid tiny pockets; they will create an oversized look (larger pockets will make your bottom appear smaller). Pockets that are located lower on the jeans will give the illusion of your bottom looking higher.
However, Men remember that large, lower & baggy pockets can make your bum look like your are smuggling a chopping board. A little tip: Most women do not fancy this look.
Minimise the bottom:
Stay away from flap pockets or pockets with lots of details, i.e. embroidery or embellishment.
Men don't fuss over the rear ends like women however a little tip. Women like a bit of a rear. If you have a flat bottom do the opposite of the above tips.
Find a rise that fits properly in the crotch.

Hem:
To rest at the top of the toes so only an inch or so of the heel.
Shoes:
For the ultimate lean look wear pointed shoes. Rounded toes gives a horizontal line at the end of your feet, making your feet and legs shorter.
Hide the belly:
Choose a boot-cut, mid-rise that covers across the tummy, not above or below it to avoid those ‘roll over' effects.
Minimise thighs:
Avoid leg-huggers; they emphasise this area. Choose styles wide at the ankle to help create an evenly balanced body.
Hide larger hips:

Mid-rise, Straight or Trouser Leg which falls from the hips to create a longer-leaner leg line.
Finding ‘the' perfect denim, in matter of fact any item of clothing, is about learning how to dress for your body proportions: how to dress in Balance and in Proportion to mostly achieve a longer & leaner look.
Also, remember that your aim is to create the right body proportions by emphasizing your assets and learning to camouflage those less flattering areas (which we all have).
Choose jeans according to your body proportions and you can't go wrong. Your flair, personality, and style are also important factors to consider for a totally styling denim look!
“You have to get to know the shape of your body first, before learning how to accentuate what nature has given you!”
