These in-ear earphones are pretty damn snazzy - basically super-techie little earphones that will change the way you listen to your MP3 player. About 75% of the world's top touring artists (including The Killers, Van Halen and My Chemical Romance) use them which is saying something about the quality.

For those of you who haven't used in-ear earphones, they do just that - go right in your ear so it enhancers your tunes to the full effect. This takes a bit of getting used to, but once you've found the right sized bud for your ear, it definitely hits the sweet spot.

The technology behind them is where the moneyshot is though, unfortunately I can't find anything on youtube to provide the visual insight, but anybody involved in audio knows the importance of using a range of speakers to deliver justice to especially with full range of frequencies used in music. At the top end of the range Ultimate Ears uses upto three seperate drivers. In which the the low, mid and high frequencies are directed to their designated speaker to give you a sonically rich experience - again all within an earbud sized piece.

Plus if you're a gym-junkie or listen to music while you run, the malleable cords fit snugly around your ear so they won't pop out. The earphones also come with a cool metal travel case, sound level attenuator (so you don't get blasted if the volume changes suddenly like aeroplane announcements) and a range of silicon gel tip buds.

At $449.50 RRP, they aren't exactly cheap, but once you've used them, you'll be leaving your standard iPod earphones in your drawer not to be used again. If you can't quite manage to invest that much, there is a range of great earphones starting from $49.90 for the Metro.Fi 100.

Super.Fi 5 Pro earphones are available at all leading electronics retailers. See www.logitech.co.nz for more details.

They sound like toys for the rich boys. The Metro.Fi 100 are a similar set for a more realistic price. I just wonder what the difference is that requires such a big price tag. I also wonder if I'll ever really know.

Those headphones sound sweet. However I love my Logitech FreePulse bluetooth headphones. They're cordless, and actually have amazingly good sound with Bluetooth 2 technology. Both the transmitter and headphones are compact and recharable.

Unfortunately they're not that robust and I'm on my 3rd replacement pair. But I'm prety active and these are fantastic with no cords to get tangled up. With regular headphones I always find I'm ripping them off either my head or my ipod.

I wish there was a bigger range of bluetooth headphones with compact rechargeable transmitters that don't cost the planet. It's a shame that more companies haven't put in any effort to producing them.

To be honest, the price is worth it if it cuts out the noise on the train in the morning. Although i am pretty sure i will still get a lot of weird looks when i forget where i am and start singing out loud with the music.....something that happens waaaay to often. My whole carriage now knows the words to most whitesnake songs......shame
